Review: modo&co in Haworth

I really love stumbling across new shops, especially when they are independent and full of unique items. I first came across Modo Creative whilst searching on Instagram a few months ago and was instantly drawn to the personalised items that they make and the beautiful photography. It was also lovely to see that this was a family business, owned by a couple who first started designing items nearly eight years ago at the time when their first child was born.

To my excitement I soon realised that not only did they sell their items on websites such as notonthehighstreet and John Lewis, they had also recently opened up a shop in the wonderful village of Haworth, West Yorkshire. I haven’t been to Haworth since a school trip many years ago so it was the perfect opportunity to take a trip there and invite my cousin along, who is also a huge fan of independent gift shops.

Walking into modo&co two weeks later was just as thrilling as i’d hoped it would be. We were greeted with a welcoming smile and a chirpy hello which is always nice when visiting a shop for the first time. My cousin and I spent a good half an hour exploring the shop, enjoying everything that was in sight before deciding on a purchase each. This was not an easy decision to make, I could of happily bought everything in the shop – at least it was an excuse to come back!

I get married in October so was really pleased to find a wedding sign, perfect for my relaxed barn wedding and something I hadn’t come across before. My cousin has recently had a baby so wanted something personalised for the new nursery. The personalised embroidery hoop frame was perfect and better still, they personalised it there and then which was amazing! This is ideal for customers who might be visiting Howarth for a holiday and don’t live close by.

It was actually quite sad to leave this shop, we enjoyed it that much! It is nice to know though that we can come back whenever we like plus you can shop online via their website.

If you are ever in the area then I would highly recommend a visit. Not only is this shop unique and fun to explore, Haworth is such a beautiful village with lots of other shops, cafe’s etc. A great day out!
